Bring on Summer!

Here are some bathing suit shots from this weekend! She loves playing in the water and being outside!

The one below is at the park near our house! It has not only a fun playground, but a river that Ella and I splashed in this weekend! She had a blast even though the water was still pretty cold!

It's been a little while since last time, but these weeks are flying by! We were talking at work about how once May hits, it seems like the remainder of the school year is over before you know it - I can't believe that we are in our last week of May - and I am so excited for the summer! It has been quite a school year - with the job uncertainty and it being the first year having a little one to leave with a sitter - but Adam and I were saying today how we can't believe that it's gone by so fast!
Since last post, things have been FUN! Last weekend Nana Fisk came in and she and I took a 'girls only' shopping day - actually I should say adult girls only because we left Ella at home with Daddy - and we had a blast! We went to Richmond and looked around then went to Harrisonburg to the book fair! It was a great day and I value the time we get to spend together.
Then this weekend was pretty 'low key'. Adam went golfing on Saturday (which was much deserved since he babysat last weekend, not only for Ella but for a friend of ours as well) and Ella and I had a 'girl day' of our own! The weather was beautiful (and pretty hot actually) so we went to the park to wade in the river, play on the playground, and read books under a shade tree. Then we came home and cooled off with some popscicles and got out the water sprinkler and blow up pool that we have here.
It was awesome to have an extra day today just to spend as a family! This summer is going to be so much fun!

I LOVE being a Mom!

Happy Mother’s Day (one day late) to all! I hope everyone had the opportunity to spend time with their mothers and/or children this weekend!

The Conner’s had a wonderful weekend! Ella had her 1 year doctor appointment on Friday – she did great! When the doctor came in, she immediately started blowing him kisses (maybe it’s the Winnie-the-Pooh ties I was telling about J)! She didn’t even flinch when they pricked her finger, and only shed a few tears over the shots (she only had two this time) – mainly because I immediately started talking about Elmo, which quickly shut off the tears and got her saying ‘Mo mo’! She weighs 20lbs and is 31in! long – she grew 3 inches since the last appointment and is in the 90th percentile for height! The doctor said she is doing great and developing right on target!

Saturday was kind of when we celebrated Mother’s Day. Adam got up and made me a wonderful breakfast!! (I am so blessed) Then, he and Ella gave me a present which was a watering can and gardening gloves!! – SO I immediately wanted to rush to get my plants and get started planting! We spent pretty much the entire day doing that – and Ella had a great time as well! For all of you who were waiting to see Ella not decked out in Birthday clothes or Easter dresses – here are some pics of her just being a kid! She LOVES being outside and really enjoyed the dirt, sandbox and getting really messy! You can also see some of the finished products on the deck – I’m so excited to have all of that done so now we can enjoy it!

Here she is playing in the dirt and LOVING it!!

Who can resist that little 'devilish' grin!!

The deck complete with flowers!!
On Sunday, we went to church and then Adam cooked a great lunch! We spent the afternoon (after nap) at Adam’s mom’s and grandmother’s houses and Ella had a blast playing in the yard and having them push her around in the car she got for her birthday.

Motherhood for me it is the most wonderful, difficult, happy, scary, and overall exciting experience I’ve ever had. Ella has definitely changed my life more than I ever would have imagined and I’m very thankful she has!

Video Posts!

Well, I figure not every week can be exciting in the life of the Conner family (especially right after a 1st! birthday) so this week I am going to put on here as many videos as 'Blogger' will let me (and for as long as I'm willing to sit while they upload :-)) - it is American Idol night after all! These videos were taken with our 'Flip' video camera, that I just want to give a little 'shout out' for real quick because they are awesome litte pieces of equipment and I would definitely recommend them! My mom (Nana) got us one for Christmas, and I think we are all quite impressed with it (check out http://www.theflip.com/ )!

Things are going well for now - poor Ella has gone from one little 'bug' to another - last week it was stomach, this week it is runny nose - but such is the life of a kid, right? What is SO amazing about her 'growing up' is the language development! WOW - it seems like every day she is saying something new, and it's SO exciting...some of her favorite words are apple, hot, dog, book (sounds like 'bap'), shoe, bath and of course ball and NO- she also really enjoys making animal sounds (which you will see in the video!) Adam and I are always so excited to hear what she is going to say next - I can't believe how fast she is picking up on everything!

Video Post Part 2

Here are some videos from Ella's birthday! Like the ones above, I have edited them for the purposes of not having to wait forever for them to load! The one below is so cute of the kids playing in the sand/water table that her Nana bought her! It was such a hit!
